  7. Sorry to bother you@Mrs. F can you explain what our concluding sentence of our body paragraph should focus on and what exactly should be mentioned in the conclusion of our paper.
    Thank you

    1. I did two lessons on this. The conclusion lesson is online via the Farrell website, my page, under Spring revision workshop.
As far as the concluding sentence, it should not be a detail or restatement of your thesis; instead, think of it as a summary sentence for the paragraph. It can be a more specific summary sentence for the main idea than the topic sentence.

    1. Chris, just be careful. The research used in the paper should be moe specific, detailed examples, quotes, or paraphrases.

    2. Paul, Faust is a selection from an anthology. The anthology is your textbook.

Go to the link below- the MLA guide I showed you in class. # 15 in her list of works cited options

    3. If you look at my notes to Ed and Jon, you can see samples. Just add the translator after the word Faust.

  11. Hello Mrs. Fotinatos, i was wondering where i can find the citations for Brother's Grimm Snow White and the Bruno Bettleheim Cinderella citation. Thank you!

    1. Jon, you are also citing a work in an anthology. See my comment to Ed.
The information for your book is different though.
After you cite the selection, then add the following.
The Classic Fairy Tales. Ed. Maria Tatar. New York: W. W. Norton and Co., 1999. Insert page numbers. Print.

Use Italics for the book title.

    2. Bettleheim, Bruno. "Article Title." The Uses of Enchantment. New York: Penguin. Insert page numbers. Print.

I just do not have the article title on me.

  12. Garcia Marquez, Gabriel. "The Old Man with Very Enormous Wings."Collected Stories. New York: Harper, 1999. Insert page numbers from the handout. Print.

Ed, you just have to add the page numbers and italicize the title of the book.

  13. Hi Mrs. Fotinatos can you cite Calebs Crossing by Geraldine Brooks for me? Im a little confused on what to do.

  14. Joe, that is just a book with a single author. Look at the Diana Hacker MLA works cited guide or your writing handbook from Farrell. You should have a copy of the book. Since it was summer reading, we did not all have the same editions. You need to cite yours.

  15. Reminder for everyone. A personal anecdote should NOT dominate a paragraph. If you are going to use them, they should be used as specific examples of a topic you are already discussing, perhaps, as an illustration to a concept from research or as support for the topic sentence.

  17. Ms. Fotinatos, can you please guide me in citing Brother Grimm's version of Cinderella? I am having a meltdown due to my incapability of citing my primary source. Also, should the works cited page have the same format as the annotated bibliography? Such as hanging indents? & I am already pretty positive that it must be cited in alphabetical order. Thank you for you kind generosity in helping your students achieve their goals. It is greatly appreciated. #AwesomeTeacher #BestEva #OMG

    1. Alex, look at my reply to Jon. It has the Anthology info for Grimm. You just need to fill in author, title, and page numbers.
Also, you are correct with the hanging indent and alphabetical order.
      PS. No OMG #10commandments
